The Home of Handmade have opened a SHOP!!

Come on inside and take a peek at our lovely little shop. From the moment I saw this place, I just fell in love with the window. I have been on the scout for the perfect location to open a shop for such a long time. There has been many opportunities, but each space just didn’t sit well with my intuition. Then one day I went for a cupcake at what used to be the cupcake shop and saw it was no longer there… so with a few phone calls and working out who the landlord was (it’s a small little town and everyone knows someone who knows someone). Hey presto, what was a little cupcake shop was now the start of a new journey for The Home of Handmade. As a small business, the budget was tiny, which meant I had to get my hands dirty. With a little help from family and friends, within 2 weeks we transformed the place into a beautiful space to showcase all our gorgeous products!
Before - what the shop looked like previously.

We ripped out the kitchen, sanded the floors, ripped up carpets and painted everywhere white (including the floors and beams), and adding a hint of green for a colour pop. A few of our makers got involved. One made the lights especially for us and a couple of others did some handy woodwork. There was a lot of upcycling from used copper pipping, vintage bread baskets, scaffolding boards, and old pallets. All the products in the store are handmade and ethically soured. A lot of our makers are also very environmentally friendly and care about our planet. I wanted to reflect this as a main ethos when choosing the interior.
During - Doing the shop up

I am dedicated to curating a unique range of  high quality and ethically made home and giftware, handmade with love and passion. My aim is to support other artisans and create ranges that work well together and complement each other rather than compete.

After - Once team THOH got our hands on the shop!

Our range is always growing, but whilst we grow I always want to stick to our core values of kindness love and passion, remaining unique and boutique. Browse our collections online or come and visit me in the store.

If you’re not from round here, you could always make a day trip of it.
Go for brunch in the Grey Lady Deli and a long walk round Bradgate Park, come visit our store for coffee and a chin wag as well as seeing our beautiful products then pop over the road to the Curzon for some late lunch/ early supper… My favourite kind of day!
